We're talking about NGTs, New Genomic Techniques, new genetic engineering techniques. Multinationals want to free themselves from any risk assessment, control and labelling (as required by the current Directive 2001/18/EC which regulates GMOs) products engineered with these techniques. By introducing organisms on the market on which sufficient studies and research have not been done, the risk is that they may subsequently have negative effects on the environment and health. We will discuss this very shortly, in January 2024, to the European Parliament in plenary session.

The 16 October 2021 we continued the construction of the forest nursery: Michelangelo and Camilla also participated, then Gennaro and Ivetta (active in the committees of the Tiburtina station in defense of the trees), in addition to the usual volunteers who have already taken part in the previous construction phases. We're not done, so if you are interested in understanding how to build a forest nursery, write or call us.
Today 17 September we continued the work started on 28 August: we built a fence around the nursery and other parts were added. Probably with another day of work the nursery will be completed in its essential structure. We will shortly begin to collect the seeds which we will then plant in bottles from 1,5 liters and in milk cartons, to which the upper part will be cut off and which will be filled with soil. Today the Linear Park Committee is present at work, the Green Brigade, Paolo Dilello from Ciampino, Alessandro Pollice, Laura Faiola, Stefano Bodini.
Today we started the construction of a forest nursery, to grow saplings which can then be used to forest the future East Rome Linear Park and other areas. The initiative is a follow-up to the RiforestiAmo Roma Metropolitan Area project, promoted by Reseda Onlus. The Linear Park Committee participated, the Green Brigade, Halessia of Trees in the Suburbs, Paolo Di Lello from Ciampino and other friends. This morning we met to repair the nets and supports of the trees planted in 2019 at Caffarella during the tree festival.
Some nets have been put in new and many posts have also been replaced. We're not done, we have to find other stakes. in the coming weeks we will complete the work.
Today 16 July 2021 there was a small demonstration to explain to citizens what the new project in the area of Largo Mazzoni and its surroundings envisages. Fewer trees and less oxygen for everyone, if the Municipality will proceed to cut the trees adjacent to the Tiburtina station. With an ongoing climate crisis it is not acceptable for projects to be carried out in which trees they have grown are felled 40 to the 100 years to make way for new aisles, pavements, that is concrete and asphalt.
Still very old design embellished by the usual words such as REGENERATION, RETRAINING.
A nice group took part in the walk to get to know the trees, at the Caffarella park. Towards evening it was fine, nothing great hot. P.S. The tree recognition manual of which I am attaching the cover is simple and clear, with leaves, the indications on seeds and flowers. It is out of business, but it is easily found among the second-hand ones. This edition is the only one with a section on palm trees (in the others it is absent).
Today Ama di Rocca Cencia plant: event in progress. Do not imagine the stench that exists in this area. There are a lot of people, many committees, associations attending this public meeting. The VI Town Hall, where there is Rocca Cencia, has a very high percentage of tumors. After the closure of the Salaria plant due to fire, of the Malagrotta landfill, this one in Rocca Cencia has been overloaded and is the only one that is active in all of Rome. After two hours here the throat begins to scrape and burn, it's crazy.

The second meeting between environmental associations took place on July 1st at the Meda Park, Monti Tiburtini area. Following the first meeting a few weeks ago, we wanted to give the opportunity to committees, associations and groups to get to know each other and to think about how to collaborate.
A common calendar will be created, so that each group can make all future initiatives aware of all and to avoid overlapping events. There was discussion on the option of identifying a common goal on which each association could converge a part of its energies, there was talk of the importance of encouraging the creation of sustainable forests and agricultural areas in Rome.
