25 September 2016 – Dragoncello: DIY inauguration of a new park

Sunday 25 September 2016, the Dragoncello Foundation (www.facebook.com/Fondazionedragoncello/) and the Tarragon neighborhood committee they organized the Neighborhood Ecological Festival. These associations, le Brigate Verdi and a willing group of men, women and children, they have implemented a constructive and participatory initiative in favor of the community: an abandoned municipal area was cleaned a Dragoncello, in via Vincenzo Petra, named Parco Calamò.

The Dragoncello Foundation and the Tarragon neighborhood committee they have been cleaning and caring for this area for months to transform it into the new meeting place of the neighborhood (another initiative will follow in mid-October).

The aim is to save it from degradation and make it available to citizens: benches were built with reused material, a privet and a medlar have been planted and a dog area has begun to be equipped.

In this extraordinary cleaning they were collected 10 bags of waste.

It is important to take back what is ours: let's embellish it and give an example from below !!! We are all called to do our part to create more liveable neighborhoods. Let us remember that the municipal spaces, provincial, state property belong to the Italian people, so ours; they are administered by representatives elected by us and we have every right and duty to request them a use in favor of the community.

November and December 2009 – Cleaning green area c/o Via Ripa Mammea, Rome

The first group intervention, then it will be like Green Brigades, was the abandoned Green cleaning, bordered by Via di Rebibbia, Via Tiburtina and Via Ripa Mammea. This place was simply renamed, in a far-sighted, “the flowerbed”.

The area was in poor conditions, full of waste of any kind: bottles, tin cans, rubble, tires, syringes, hydraulic pipes, plus the usual plastic bags and small packaging.

The area has been cleared, the waste has been separated as much as possible (glass, aluminum, paper, undifferentiated) and emptied into the appropriate containers.

Nearly complete removal of wild grasses was required so that half-buried waste could be dug up and removed easily (bottles, scrap metal, pieces of asphalt).
